Product Overview
The TestDrive SIM™ Application Simulator allows business analysts and architects to flesh out requirements, prove concepts, try out different scenarios to see which will perform best, and make tons of mistakes with no risk and without any code.
With a completely visual interface, the simulator lets users with no code abilities model business processes, and create application models the emulate a real application. You can even use various plug-in emulators to emulate certain real-world functionality to ‘try’ your application out before one line of code is written. You can experiment and find out ahead of time where bottlenecks or problem areas will occur.
Furthermore, you can model existing processes and applications to find out how various changes will improve performance, reduce staff while maintaining volume, etc. – the possibilities are endless.
You can even generate a skeleton application from the simulations to give the development team clearly defined requirements, and a head start.
Features
Visual, rich-media Flash™ interface, including Drag-and-Drop functionality.
Easy to use wizards for more complex tasks.
Can export business process definitions to form skeleton application.
Multi-level approval workflow to control simulation release.
Role-based access control facilitates authentication, authorization and data privacy to make sure only the right people access your simulations.
Choose between multiple process modeling techniques, methodologies.
Leverage UML skills.
Benefits
Designed to be used by Business Analysts and Architects, not developers
Mistakes are encouraged: This is the one time you can afford to make as many ‘mistakes’ as you want
Enables Test-First design: Allows definition, testing and approval of an application before a single line of code has been written
Fully functional prototypes: Users validate requirements using an interactive representation
Feedback can be implemented immediately (even on the spot)
While iterations of a prototype are cheaper than the real application, changes to a simulation cost almost nothing
Central repository of application requirements, processes and prototypes
Entirely web-based: Enables remote collaboration
A living design, the Simulation is much more dynamic and easier to version than traditional design documentation
Take it to the next step: Simulations can be used to pre-generate a Sabertooth Application Framework application shell (called a skeleton application)
